Project: NEXANS - Equipment upgrade to existing cable laying vessel

Scope of works:

To supply a hydraulic cutting product which would be used as an emergency cutting device on an offshore cabling vessel in the event of adverse weather conditions. These were for use to cut up to 220mm diameter umbilical cable while undergoing seabed cable laying operations.

Equipment supplied:

Cutter package comprising – Two JAG SPHGC250 hydraulic guillotine cutters with horizontal mounting frames designed so the hydraulic cutters could be safely loaded and operated at the correct high for each cable laying line. The cutters were ordered with optional replacement blade sets to allow minimal downtime during maintenance requirements
 
Hydraulic power pack with control station comprising – High pressure pump unit to charge the three piston accumulators with 62L oil capacity, control station, hydraulic hose assemblies, valves and pressure gauges

Order awarded:

JAG hydraulic cutting equipment was chosen for this application because of its ability to supply a bespoke designed hydraulic cutter that could perform a 1 second cut which fulfilled the technical brief
